Individual Modules (60 hour sessions)

Anyone is welcome to attend all or part of the training. The 200 hour yoga teacher training is broken into 3 relatively equal, 60 hour sessions. These sessions are detailed in the syllabus. The three sessions, or modules as we like to call them, in brief, are:

  1. Foundations: Yoga philosphy, study of basic asana (particularly surya namaskara and standing postures)

  2. Exploration: Classic Yoga Texts (Siva Samhita, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, etc.), study of seated asana and most of the primary series of Ashtanga

  3. Assimilation: Studies of Contemporary systems of yoga, business, advanced asana and asana with the use of props

You are welcome, also, to purchase one module at a time for $600 if money is tight and you do not have the ability to purchase the training all at once. You can also take the training at different times (for example, you could take 1 module in Spring of one year and then 2 modules in Fall of the next year) but they must be taken in succession. Each module has corresponding reading materials.

RYS-200 Tuition Rates & Dates

Ashtanga Yoga Bellingham and Bellingham Yoga School is a registered yoga school (RYS #26861) which has a collaborative and innovative approach to asana and yoga theory. This program was founded in 2006 by certified Ashtanga teachers David and Catherine Garrigues, and has been directed by their student, Luke Baugh, since 2012. This is a traditionally based program, grounded in the yoga sutras, Samkhya philosophy, and asana systems of the Krishnamacharya, Desikachar, Jois, and Iyengar lineages. This program meets and exceeds requirements for 200 hour registration with Yoga Alliance (upon completion we will give you the credential needed to acquire this certificate). The program incorporates a non dogmatic approach to yoga through acknowledgement of traditional practices, modern innovations to classical asana (including props), and for teachers, a very clear understanding of yoga theory and philosophy. While respect is given to our ancestors in yoga,  this is a utilitarian school, and the doors are open to people of all disciplines who want to expand their yogic knowledge or become teachers.
